10 000 spectators expected to witness spectacular flame-grilling of a Whopper®

AALESUND, NORWAY – JUNE 21, 2019.

Saturday June 22 at approx. 2100hrs CET, BURGER KING®, the company famous for its flame-grilled Whopper®, will perform the most spectacular flame-grilling of a Whopper® ever done. A highly skilled helicopter crew will flame-grill a Whopper® over the 112 ft. tall Slinningsbålet bonfire in the fjord landscape of Norway. More than 10 000 spectators are expected to witness the event, celebrating the art of flame-grilling.

The amazing Norwegian Fjords will set the stage for this one-of-a-kind event. The 112ft Slinningsbålet bonfire is an annual celebration of Midsummer Eve in Aalesund, the city of Fjords.

- Since 1954, Burger King has been true to the art of flame-grilled burgers. Now we are taking flame-grilling to another level. Our Burger King Team found the perfect flame in Aalesund, Norway; a giant annual bonfire called Slinningsbålet. Just like our famous Whopper®, the Slinningsbålet bonfire is handmade to order. This is a perfect fit, says CEO of Burger King Norway, Rune Sandvik.

A specially trained crew consisting of pilots and Burger King Employees will perform the flame grilling.

- Just like in a Burger King restaurant, the flame-grilling requires the right temperature and timing. This is a highly delicate mission that requires precision flying. We are well prepared, says Jon Ove Velure from Fonnafly, pilot of the Whopper® Chopper.

Burger King now invites the world to join more than 10 000 local spectators to witness the flame-grilling. The event will be live streamed for the world to watch using this link: https://bit.ly/2RpIYvE. The fire is lit at approximately 21.00 CET and the flame grilling will be performed at approximately 22.00 CET.
