Ramjet Shell Initial Tests

Image   •   Jun 19, 2019 13:30 CEST

Wooden witness plate at the Nammo test range at Raufoss, Norway after being hit by a ramjet-powered artillery shell, the four fully extended stabilization fins easily visible in the imprint left on the plate. These initial tests, carried out during May 2019, were intended to prove that the shell with a ramjet propulsion unit would survive being fired from a L52 gun, that it would be stable, and that the ramjet would ignite. All these objectives were successfully achieved.
