This year’s Norwegian Esri User Conference has come to an end. Three great days with GIS enthusiast from all parts of Norway was an inspiration to our future work!

At the conference dinner Thursday evening, the prices for the best online maps were presented. We are glad to announce that NPD won the price for best map content with their Fact Maps.

Petroleum Track

The conference hosts a separate Petroleum track. In this year’s track, we had some great presentations:

DNV GL: Dynamic resource modeling in ice infested waters using ArcGIS

Karl John Pedersenstarted telling about environmental risks related to the increased oil and gas activities in the Arctic. Oil drift simulations and information about geographical and seasonal distribution of sensitive environmental resources are key components in risk assessment. The presentation showed the value of ArcGIS in combining, analyzing and visualizing diverse datasets in both space and time.

Tullow Oil Norway AS: Creating value through data integration and visualization in Portal for ArcGIS.

Kine Johanne Årdal showed results from their visualization project, a project that integrates a large and diverse amount of data throughout the exploration workflow. Portal for ArcGIS is used as a collaboration tool, and they really see the value of sharing information across the entire company.

Det norske Oljeselskap: ArcGIS Server and FME in symphony – producing documents.

Vidar Hjelmeland Brekke and Erik Zakariassen presented how they have managed to automate the process of creating license sheets, which is a regular workflow for all companies with license interests. They also pointed the strength of FME in workflows when dealing with different data types.

Bayerngas Norge AS: Portal for ArcGIS and SharePoint – a flexible combination

Siri Clemet explained how Bayerngas Norge is sharing information across divisions and disciplines. SharePoint is their common system, and by integrating information from Portal for ArcGIS, the whole company has access to essential geographic information in their core system. The maps appear as a seamless part of SharePoint, with no need of training for the end users.

Presentations from the User Conference are available here.

We are looking forward to seeing you at the Norwegian Esri UC next year!
