The 2014 Nordic Somali Youth Summit (NSYS) is the third annual pan-Nordic event, aiming to create awareness on the challenges faced by Somalis throughout the Nordics while creating a space for innovative solutions to these challenges. The one-day Summit brings together 150 participants comprising of Somali youth living in Denmark, Norway and Sweden.The theme of the NSYS 2014 is "New Generation, New Voice" and the Summit will take place on the 6th of June at Eigtveds Pakhus, Copenhagen.
Our guest of honor for this years summit is Roblé Ali, known as Chef Roblé. Roblé Ali has quickly become one of the most recognizable chefs and one of the very few young African-Americans in the culinary world with national notoriety. He will be one of the role models and workshop holders at the summit.
Along with Roblé, we have two young ladies attending this years summit. Ayaan and Idyl Mohallim, launched their brand in 2008, called Mataano (translate as twins in somali). They attended the second edition of summit last year. This year they will present their collection to us, by having a fashion show.
We also have other role models as Fatima Said (model), Idil Ibrahim (filmmaker), Abdi Phenomenal (spoken word artist), Warsame Ali (Norwegian Centre for Minority Health Research), Zakaria Hersi (manager of Besedo) and etc.
