Democracy in Europe Challenged - Oslo 7. nov.

The European Movement in Norway cordially invites you to attend our annual conference Europakonferansen 2014 - Democracy in Europe Challenged

There are several symptoms that may indicate that our democracies in Europa – be it national or supranational level – are being increasingly challenged; growing political extremism, lack of trust between politicians and voters, low voting turn-out in elections and a general political apathy. In addition, Norway’s adherence to the EEA constitutes some important question marks to the democratic legitimacy of Norway’s relations to the EU. 

Burning issues: Do we need to reform our democracies in order to sustain our democratic ideals? Do citizens need to be more involved in political processes – in particular during non-election periods?

Amongst our speakers we have the pleasure to announce that amongst the speakers we find Vidar Helgesen, Raymond Johansen, David van Reybrouck and David Farrell.
