ANOHNI, vokalisten fra Antony and the Johnsons, annonserer i dag at hun slipper sitt nye album "HOPELESSNESS" 6. mai via Rough Trade / Playground Music. "Drone Bomb Me" er den vakre, men brutale andre singelen fra albumet.

"Drone Bomb Me is a love song written from the perspective of a young girl in Afghanistan whose family has been executed by unmanned U.S. drones. She dreams of being annihilated", sier ANOHNI om singelen. Den sterke musikkvideoen er regissert av Nabil med en storartet opptreden av Naomi Campbell i hovedrollen. Art direction og styling er gjort av den berømte Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy.

På "HOPELESSNESS" samarbeider ANOHNI med Oneohtrix Point Never og Hudson Mohawke. Musikken er elektronisk dansemusikk med sjelfull vokal, og tekster som handler om overvåkning, dronekrig og ødeleggelse av verdens økosystemer. Albumet søker å bryte med forventningene våre til populærmusikk ved hjelp av kollisjonen mellom det elektroniske lydbildet og de svært politiserte tekstene.

I sammenheng med klimakonferansen i Paris forrige desember, slapp ANOHNI debutsingelen "4 Degrees". The Guardian kalte den “Hugely affecting… instantly earns its place in the pantheon of great musical protests.”
