Shawn Mendes sitt album "Handwritten" fremskyndes grunnet ivrige fans

Takket være ivrig fans, har Shawn Mendes sitt debutalbum "Handwritten" blitt fremskjøvet til 14. april.

16-åringen la på tirsdag ut en melding på sosiale medier med en oppfordring til fansen: Kunne de gjøre videopremieren på «Life of The Party» til den største i verden med over 1 millioner mentions på Twitter, skulle han fremskynde albumreleasen. På kort tid hadde videoen 1,2 millioner mentions, og dermed ble debutalbumet «Handwritten» flyttet fra 27. april til 14. april. Den etterlengtede "Life Of The Party" videoen er den andre i Shawns "Handwritten" videoserie, hvor den første var "Never Be Alone".

Albumet er produsert av blant annet svenske Martin Terefe, og på tracklisten finner vi låten "Air" med norske Astrid Smeplass. Shawn har nylig fullført sin smekkutsolgte mini-Europaturné hvor han blant annet gjestet i Stockholm sammen med nettopp Astrid.

(March 11, 2015 – New York, NY) By popular demand, Island Records 16-year old singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes’ hotly anticipated debut album HANDWRITTEN has been moved up to an April 14^th release (from April 28^th), in reaction to the phenomenal numbers and 1.2 million Twitter mentions posted by last night's Vevo premiere of his RIAA gold #1 debut “Life of The Party,” his biggest video premiere to date that can be watched HERE! Shawn announced yesterday that if his fans could make this his biggest video premiere and get over 1 million Twitter mentions, they would be awarded with the album early!

The long-awaited "Life Of The Party" video is the second in Shawn's “Handwritten” video series and is a one-take video that features cameos by Vine stars Nash Grier, Jack & Jack, & Aaron Carpenter. It follows the release of the video for “Never Be Alone,” which reached #1 on iTunes upon release. That #1 accomplishment joins a string of other #1 accomplishments for Shawn including the phenomenal RIAA gold #1 debut of “Life of The Party, the #1 debut of the The Shawn Mendes EP, as well as the #1 pre-order debut of HANDWRITTEN.

The teen awards season kicks off for Shawn on March 28^th, with an appearance on the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards broadcast. The next night on NBC, March 29^th, his Mendes Army has been nominated for Best Fan Army at the iHeartRadio Music awards. Shawn is also nominated as The Freshest – Best New Artist at this year’s Radio Disney Music awards, to air April 26^th on the Disney Channel.

Shawn’s impact has transcended some of the most talked about moments of the year: He surpassed Superbowl XLIX as the top trending topic the night of the game; he was one of the top two trending topics the night of the historic SNL 40^th anniversary special—trending above the 2015 NBA All-Star game which also aired that night. Adding to Shawn’s success is the fact that all this has taken place within nine months of his signing to Island Records.

Last week, Shawn wrapped up his entirely sold-out headlining tour of Europe, which took him to Stockholm, Berlin, Paris, and London. Those dates followed his first-ever headline shows in November, in New York City, Los Angeles, and Toronto, every night sold-out within minutes of going on-sale. Touring continues next month, with 11 more sold-out cities across the U.S. running from April 8^th at the Fillmore in Miami through April 24^th at the Warfield Theater in San Francisco, all leading up to the release of HANDWRITTEN on its new April 14 ^th release date. Shawn will then join Taylor Swift on her sold-out 1989 Tour between May and October 2015.

In addition to “Never Be Alone,” “Something Big” and “Life of The Party,” the aptly-titled HANDWRITTEN album will contain new songs crafted by Shawn in writing sessions on his tour bus over the course of the past year. The album will include production by Martin Terefe (credits: Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours,” Train’s “Hey Soul Sister”), as well as songs with “Life of The Party” co-writers Ido Zmishlany and Scott Harris.

Shawn, hailed as “Music’s First Vine Star” by Billboard, and one of Time Magazine’s most influential teens of 2014, was also crowned “The real deal”by Teen Vogue. Shawn transitioned from teen viral online sensation to full-fledged industry best-seller when his videos were discovered online by manager Andrew Gertler & he was introduced and signed to Island Records. He has since performed live on the The Late Show With David Letterman, ABC’s Good Morning America, Live with Kelly & Michael, NBC's Today Show, and Jimmy Kimmel Live!.
