Go fish in Lyngenfjord


The Lyngenalps are reflecting in the smooth Lyngenfjord, the mountains are still white with snow on the summits. All of a sudden, you feel the fish line stretches out and the excitement hits you right in the stomach. Is it a cod, a halibut or maybe a salmon? The best season for
fishing in northern Norway have now started.

- I love the fact that is not a question if you will get a fish, more what kind of fish you will catch! Says an English fishing tourist who have just arrived Lyngseidet in the heart of Lyngenfjord region.

People from Estonia, Germany, Russia, France, England and other parts of Europe are flocking to the world-famous fishing waters in northern Norway and they are not getting disappointed.

- This is my tenth time in Lyngenfjord and this year, I brought my family. I want my children to experience the feeling of catching your own dinner in this clear fjord water, says the English tourist while unpacking some new fishhooks.

If you are fishing in the fjords, there are no fishing cards or regulations as long as you are using fishing rod. If you want to fish in the lakes or streams, you need to buy fishing cards at www.inatur.no.

In Lyngenfjord, you can catch both haddock, cod, halibut, salmon and mackerel.  When the midnight sun is shining 20th of May to 22th of July, you can take your equipment and try your luck at any time during the day or night. Lyngenfjord is a fisher’s paradise- come up and go fish!
