Scientist take liver sample from salmon

Tone-Kari Knutsdatter Østbye taking liver samples from salmon in order to isolate and culture liver cells as part of a study into the ability of salmon to produce long marine omega-3 fatty acids from the short omega-3 fatty acids in rapeseed oil. She used radiolabelling of the short omega-3 fatty acids to determine how much of the fatty acid was converted to marine omega-3.
