In an Irish study the researchers investigated the use of TIGR® Matrix long term resorbable mesh in 56 patients undergoing immediate breast reconstructions after mastectomy. The authors concluded that TIGR® Matrix was an effective adjunct for use in breast reconstruction, providing excellent cosmetic outcomes with minimal rates of complications.

Data presented from Swedish validated registries showing risk factors for burst abdomen and incisional hernias after open abdominal surgery. By combining such risk factors, the authors believe they will be able to define those patients at greater risk for wound complications and find out how to treat these patients.

Safety data presented at the 1st World Conference on Abdominal Wall Hernia Surgery in Milan. TIGR Matrix was used to prevent parastomal hernia in emergency stoma formation. TIGR Matrix was safe to use despite severely contaminated field in a large group of the patients.

Dr Bruce Ramshaw presented data from the clinical quality improvement (CQI) program at the 1st World Conference on Abdominal Wall Hernia Surgery in Milan. Several attempts at process improvement were implemented in one hernia program over a three-year period. This led to decreased costs and improved outcomes for patients who underwent abdominal wall reconstruction.
