Novus Scientific Announces New Size of TIGR® Matrix Surgical Mesh

Uppsala, Sweden, and San Diego, California – Novus Scientific is pleased to announce a new size, 15x20cm, of TIGR® Matrix Surgical Mesh is now available in both Europe and the United States. The new size was created to meet the growing surgical demand for a mid-sized TIGR® Matrix that fills the gap between the existing 10x15 cm and 20x30 cm sizes of surgical mesh.

“The recent rise of oncoplastic breast surgery, a surgical technique that combines the latest plastic surgery techniques with breast surgical oncology, has created a demand for a new size of TIGR® Matrix. We are happy to provide breast surgeons and oncoplastic centers with the products they need in this new era of breast reconstruction surgery”, said Stefan Sowa, Vice President of Novus Scientific.

In recent years, implant-based reconstruction has become a standard for breast reconstruction after breast cancer surgery. Using TIGR® Matrix to scaffold and support natural tissue regeneration can be an attractive alternative to other products on the market due to a low complications rate, cost effectiveness and easy handling.

TIGR Matrix is a polymer-based mesh that is intended for use in the reinforcement of soft tissue where weakness exists. It is knitted into a fabric-like material that is softer and more flexible than other surgical mesh products and helps to stabilize the breast implant. TIGR Matrix is knitted from two different synthetic resorbable fibers with different degradation characteristics. The first fiber is strong for 2 weeks and fully resorbed after four months, the second fiber is strong for 6-9 months and is fully absorbed after 3 years
