Earth Hour – we switch off the lights for climate action

News   •   Aug 22, 2019 16:23 CEST

On Saturday, 30 March 2019, at 8:30 PM, lights will be turned out once again in country after country, as Earth Hour sweeps across the planet through the different time zones. We at Orkla will be a part of this event.

“Earth Hour is an important way of raising awareness of the climate challenges we face. We will participate in this event and will switch off the lights in our new headquarters in Oslo on Saturday at 8:30 PM. We ask that all our factories and offices also turn out their lights for one hour as a call for action on climate change,” says Inger Johanne Eikeland, SVP Environment, Health and Safety at Orkla.

At 8:30 PM on Saturday, 30 March 2019, the lights will be turned off in one country after another as Earth Hour sweeps across the planet through the different time zones. Last year, as many as 188 countries took part in the celebration of WWF’s Earth Hour, which first started in Australia. No less than 3,100 landmarks and iconic structures, from the Eiffel Tower to Big Ben and Tokyo Tower, went dark to show that people all over the world stand shoulder to shoulder to combat climate change.
