PetroBio delivers part of the boiler house to Harjavalta, Finland

Along with Renewa Oy, Petro Bio AB signed delivery of a complete boiler house to the STEP Energy Oy. The boiler will be built in Harjavalta and from it STEP is going to supply steam to its customer Norilsk Nickel.

Petro's part of the delivery is a 30MW wood powder burner, including control systems and fuel management. STEP will use natural gas as secondary fuel in the burner. Petro's commitment also includes process guarantees.

Renewa is responsible for the delivery of its own designed boiler, installation and construction. Together, this is a supply with a total value of nearly 100 million SEK. The complete plant is part of a sustainable energy solution to the Norilsk Nickel Harjavalta.

The boiler plant will produce approximately 220GWh per year, when completed in January in 2016.

Thanks to this investment, the thermal energy we use, will for the most part be produced using renewable, domestically produced fuel, resulting in a significantly smaller carbon footprint from operations. The new steam boiler ensures the energy supply of the plant and also enables an increase in production, says Joni Hautojärvi, CEO of Norilsk Nickel.
