First major crime in normally peaceful Clark Pampanga occurred at Fontana Resort Water Park

Philippines Clark Freeport has long been touted as the safest tourist destination in Asia, free from the stigma of questionable law and order situation in other cities of Philippines like Manila, Angeles City and even Subic.  Fontana Leisure Park Resort play host to a flow of tourists from China and Macau.  Their casino also attracts a good number of junkets from Macau. 

 

On 29th November, 2010, leading Philippines daily newspaper Star published a breaking news story titled “Chinese national killed in shooting spree at Pampanga resort” revealing serious security and safety issues in Fontana water park resort and casino.  Here is an excerpt from breaking news story:

 

 

MANILA, Philippines – A Chinese national was shot dead while another was wounded inside a posh leisure resort in Pampanga , police reported today.

 

Authorities identified the victims as Shahani Co and Zeng Hua Quiang. They were rushed to a nearby hospital but attending physicians could no longer revive Co, police said.

 

Initial report showed that the two were reportedly shot by Wang Yang Zhen, also a Chinese national, inside Villa NR3406, Fontana Leisure, Clarkfield, Pampanga, around 3:30 a.m. yesterday.

 

Zhen is now in the custody of the Angeles City Police.

 

Earlier, another leading Philippines daily newspaper the Inquirer published a story on this shooting incident in Fontana that shocked the tourism industry and tarnished the immaculate safety record of Clark Pampanga.
