|As more and more people move to expanding cities, farming will be pushed further away from population centers. The result of this is longer transportation routes, less fresh products, increased reliance on petroleum-based fertilizers and more high-intensity monoculture farming. In response to this challenge, Plantagon has developed a vertical space-efficient greenhouse for the urban environment.|

Shanghai, July 4, 2012 — Plantagon International has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Tongji University in Shanghai. The MOU states that Plantagon and the University will cooperate regarding research on town-planning issues. Plantagon has signed a letter of intent with the Botkyrka municipality in Sweden for establishing a vertical greenhouse. The project has received funding from the Swedish government's Clean-tech Initiative, the Delegation for Sustainable Cities. Construction is planned to begin in 2012.
