Plantagon launches its first City Farm out of ten until 2020 in the Swedish capital Stockholm. Plantagon invites the crowd to be part of a movement #feedingthecity. Under the famous building "DN-Skrapan" up to 70 metric tonnes of high quality food will be produced yearly – from a place previously being used as a storage room.

As Southern Europe recently was struck by snowstorms we suddenly came to realize this had impact on our daily lives. Suddenly the vegetable shelves were empty and not a single salad was to be found in stores throughout Sweden. This clearly shows the fragility of our current food system, heavily relying on imports. And the inevitable question is: How resilient is our food system in a crisis?

Swedish Innovation Company and Leading Chinese University Continues Development for Sustainable Urban Food Production in China

Following the inauguration of the Tongji-Plantagon Research Center, Plantagon and Tongji University now execute joint efforts to develop solutions for urban agriculture in China. A binding agreement for three years will be signed on Tuesday November 5th. Plantagon CEO and high officials from Tongji University will sign the agreement in the presence of Swedish Consul General Viktoria Li.

Dickson Despommier is a microbiologist, an ecologist, and emeritus professor of Public and Environmental Health at the Columbia University. For 27 years he conducted research on cellular and molecular parasitism and held lectures and courses on Parasitic Disease, Medical Ecology and Ecology. In 1999, he founded the root for the idea of raising crops in tall buildings; so called vertical farming.
