SINGAPORE, September 21, 2016 –– The Swedish solution for mass production of food in cities – catalyzing a huge global export opportunity for Swedish clean-tech – is attracting attention in South East Asia. Plantagon, one of the world pioneers within urban agriculture and agritechture, spearheads infrastructural food systems integrating energy, water, and waste management. As agritechture the Plantagon way is always built on an industrial symbiosis the small, young and innovative company hopes to pave the way for much larger companies in Swedish clean-tech and national export.

Plantagon is participating in the Sweden-Southeast Asia Business Summit in Singapore 21-22 September 2016. September 22 Plantagon will participate in an afternoon session with Mikael Damberg, Sweden’s Minister of Enterprise and Innovation. The session, "Smart Industry: Sustainability and New Industrialization", is arranged by Singapore Business Federation with representatives from Business Sweden, Alfa Laval, Camfil and Envac, also featuring a panel ”Sharing sustainable innovation and sustainability as a competitive edge.”

”Asia is the main market for our solutions. In a dense city environment access to land is extremely low and the price is extremely high. This is something that is especially true in Singapore, but also in other mega-cites around Asia. A viable solution for sustainable urban food production must produce maximum volume of food on a minimum land area whilst using minimal resources and generating minimum waste. Industrial ecology and symbiotic solutions makes this possible, and as a company working with agritechture we are happy to see that large industrial companies are willing to team up with us”, says Owe Pettersson, CEO of Plantagon Agritechture AB.

Already 45 cities around the world are planning for how to integrate food production into their sustainable city planning. Plantagon’s landmark project The World Food Building in Linköping, Sweden, is seen by many as leading the development of agritechture and is attracting global attention. The building was recently awarded The International Architecture Awards 2016 by The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre forArchitecture Art Design and Urban Studies. Plantagon has also been recognized by Red Herring Top 100 Global as being one the 100 most innovative companies in the world.
