Altia’s statutory employee cooperation negotiations in Finland concluded with a more positive outcome than expected

The statutory cooperation negotiations with the staff of Altia’s Ruohohalti office were concluded on 3 June 2013. As the outcome of the negotiations, on 11 June 2013, the employer decided to dismiss 12 employees. This is significantly fewer dismissals than the 25 redundancies that were anticipated.

During the statutory negotiation period, 13 new vacancies were filled through internal recruitment and three employees resigned. In addition, it was agreed in the negotiations that fixed-term employment relations will end. The corresponding negotiation process at Altia’s Stockholm office is still ongoing.

‘By reorganising our functions, we want to secure the implementation of our strategy in the difficult market situation, which is, among other things, due to continuous alcohol tax rate increases, the increased general cost level and consumers’ weakened purchasing power. We will focus on making all of our activities customer-centric, outlining clear business responsibilities, and harnessing support functions to serve our business goals even better. These personnel arrangements are merely one part of our planned development measures through which we are seeking to increase our operating profit by EUR 10 million by the end of 2014,’ says Antti Pankakoski, CEO of Altia Finland.
