DICOTA strengthens business focus under new ownership

DICOTA, the industry-leading manufacturer of carrying solutions and accessories for personal media devices, has announced the completion of its management buyout, led by members of the company’s existing management team. The buyout is a natural step for both parties, whose business focuses now differ. The deal will entail no staff changes within the DICOTA organization, and the current customer experience will remain unaffected.

DICOTA has been a wholly owned brand of OSM Group since the brand’s acquisition in 2008. In recent months, however, strategic differences have emerged resulting in a management buyout of the DICOTA business divisions managing own-branded segments within distribution channels and mobile office solutions. Consequently, DICOTA is once again an independent brand controlled by its senior management. The MBO will be effective from 1. March 2013, and DICOTA will remain under the leadership of Michael Mühlenbruch, Ruedi Nauer and Stephan Meyer.

“Having managed the DICOTA brand for many years, I am thrilled to lead the company into an exciting new phase of growth,” says Mühlenbruch. “We have enjoyed strong performance and expanded our product portfolio together with OSM Global, and are now in a solid position to leverage our assets as an independent brand.”

Mühlenbruch is quick to point out that customers will experience a seamless transition: “We aim to continue to enhance our customers’ experience, and I’m confident in this development. We operate in a fast-growing market, a fact which has driven DICOTA and OSM Group to develop in different directions. Therefore, this is a natural divorce. The intention of this MBO is to enable healthy growth for DICOTA and to leverage synergies more strategically among business areas.”

Johan Ledel, CEO of OSM Group adds: “The market has changed, and competition has increased in recent years. We believe that both OSM Group and DICOTA will achieve their full potential with a sharper focus on their respective businesses. Another important part of the sale of DICOTA has been to find a satisfactory solution for the personnel. We've got that now.”

In its first trade show as a newly independent brand, DICOTA will be showcasing its expanded range of mobile office solutions at CeBIT in Hannover, Germany, from March 5 to 9, Hall 14, booth K20, Planet Reseller.
