STOKE POGES, U.K. (17th February 2016) — Hitachi Data Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd., today announced version 2.1 of Hitachi Content Platform (HCP) Anywhere that allows service providers and IT organisations to quickly and easily deliver the most secure content mobility solution offered by HDS to their users under their own brand. These new capabilities for file sync, folder sharing and end-user data protection will be on display next week at Mobile World Congress in the Hitachi booth in Hall 6, Stand 6G21. HCP Anywhere v.2.1 brings new features that allow external parties to upload data to shared HCP Anywhere folders, enhance team folders, and evolve beyond file sync and share with new data protection tools for end-user files. This new release also includes enhancements that further improve the security, ease of use, and intelligence of underlying storage and network resources.
Today, workers – the producers and consumers of corporate information – are increasingly mobile and carry multiple devices. Balancing the information access and usability needs of these users with the need for the enterprise to ensure corporate information is protected and secure has resulted in a needs gap between producers and consumers.
Whether a business is regulated internally or by an outside organisation, there are growing requirements for businesses to be sure their organisational information is visible, under control and secure, regardless of location or device. HCP Anywhere directly addresses these requirements.
With HCP Anywhere, service providers and private IT organisations can deliver next-generation file services for their users without compromising business expectations or the conveniences of the mobile workforce. With the most recent release of HCP Anywhere, organisations and service providers gain new features such as data protection and self-service recovery of users’ files and folders, secure external data sharing, collaborative workspaces, full auditability, and better content control.
HCP Anywhere is a well-integrated, tested, and supported solution that lets organisations easily deliver extensible cloud storage solutions under their own brand to improve user adoption. IT service providers, both public and private, can now offer their users these advanced file services without having to develop them themselves.
“As an IT service provider specialising in telecommunications and data center services, we were able to speed our time to market for new cloud services based on the integrated Hitachi Content portfolio. Through a combination of Hitachi Content Platform as the core cloud storage repository, Hitachi Data Ingestor as the cloud gateway and Hitachi Content Platform Anywhere for file synchronisation and sharing and remote management, we were able to quickly and easily bring to market new value added services for our customers.” – Sergio Grassi, Sales Director, Infracom Italia SpA
HCP Anywhere has won many awards for its new capabilities. Most recently, HCP Anywhere was selected as a TechTarget 2015 Product of the Year finalist in the enterprise storage system software category. HCP Anywhere also received the TMC 2015 Cloud Computing Excellence Award and the 2014-2015 Cloud Award for Best in Mobile Solutions category.
“We are proud to announce that HCP Anywhere is the most secure offering in the market – the newest release is the first HDS product to sync, share and protect users’ data. Our passion for data means we are committed to continually enhancing the HCP portfolio, guaranteeing secure, intelligent data management by optimising data control and visibility.” – Peter Sjoberg, chief technology officer (CTO), Cloud and Mobility, Hitachi Data Systems.
About the Hitachi Content Platform Portfolio
HCP Anywhere is part of the Hitachi Content Platform portfolio, which is the only integrated solution that brings together object storage, file sync and share, file gateways and file protection to create truly secure, simple, smart and flexible cloud storage solutions. It sets itself apart from competitors for its distinct ability to integrate links automatically into emails instead of sending attachments. HCP Anywhere is the connection between data on user devices and the data center where the HCP object storage software intelligently automates IT operations to manage data at petabyte scale. The portfolio consists of Hitachi Content Platform, Hitachi Content Platform Anywhere, and Hitachi Data Ingestor. With the HCP portfolio, IT organisations and cloud service providers can easily store, share, synchronise, protect, preserve, analyse and retrieve file data from a single system. This consolidation makes it easier for IT to manage the volume and variety of data by using policies to automate operations such as data protection and tiering. As a result, compression, deduplication, erasure coding and hybrid cloud support make storage efficient and cost-effective. The consolidated system also offers a much faster time to value for customers, and time to market for service providers by eliminating the hassles of do-it-yourself integration.
