Mentice has received a grant from the Swedish government agency for innovation, Vinnova, to develop a simulation-based training system including validated metrics capable of assessing proficiency in treatment of acute ischemic stroke (AIS).

System to educate, train and certify physicians

As recent studies have clearly demonstrated the benefits of endovascular treatment of stroke there is a demand for an increased number of physicians able to perform endovascular AIS procedures. The purpose of the Vinnova project is to offer a validated system to educate, train and certify physicians in specific endovascular skills to help meet this demand.

With this new training system, health care providers can set up, train and educate stroke teams with more ease and safety and with shorter lead times. The expected result is an increasing number of AIS patients sooner can be offered the most efficient medical treatment, thrombectomy.

Mentice is a world leader in medical simulation, providing qualified solutions for training, education and assessment opportunities. With a focus on minimally invasive techniques and procedures, Mentice develops simulation systems for training in a safe environment within the fields of endovascular intervention and minimally invasive surgery. The advantages of training with Mentice solutions are well documented enhancing clinical performance, reducing cost, and, in the long term, improving patient safety.
