Press Release   •   Feb 15, 2013 11:20 GMT

Last night, on Valentines Day, Rebtel was awarded Sweden’s most prestigious telecom prize – the Telecom Company of the Year. The company had an amazing year 2012 with a heavily increased user base and many improvements of their popular apps for cheap international calling.

The jury’s motivation:

To succeed and becoming the winner of Telecom Company of the Year companies really need to be something special. And you can really say that about this year's winners.

This is a company that has fought an uphill battle but now re-found the right track again and is moving forward in a market with intense competition from both established and new players. However, they have never given up their vision - to disrupt established patterns.

“Looking back on the years we have been building this company to what it is today, makes me so proud of what we’ve achieved together. So many people out there are using our service to talk to their loved ones without being ripped off. That being said, we have so much exciting stuff ahead of us and I sure look forward to take the next steps with you on this exiting journey!” said Hjalmar Winbladh co-founder and board director of Rebtel.

Also nominated for the prize was the succesful operators Telenor, Ericsson, 3 and Teliasonera.

The award is founded by the Swedish telecom newsletter Telekomnyheterna.
