Seamless, a company listed on Nasdaq OMX, is now launching its rapidly growing mobile payment service SEQR in Finland and Norway. Just as in Sweden, Finnish and Norwegian merchants will be able to offer their customers the opportunity of paying with their smartphones and receiving the bill via the Collector charge-free, interest-free account.
SEQR has become by far the biggest mobile payment solution in Sweden in less than a year – and maybe even the biggest in Europe. More than 3000 food outlets, retailers, fast-food chains and other merchants in Sweden have agreements relating to payment with the SEQR payment solution.
“Together with Collector, we have a payment solution which is the simplest possible alternative for consumers. So now that Collector is able to join us in Finland and Norway, there is everything to suggest that we will be seeing expansion just as quickly as in Sweden. We have already received a number of enquiries from major retail chains. The solution for consumers is simple, quick and secure. SEQR is easy for retailers to introduce, too, with no fixed costs for roll-out. They can also save lots of money compared with card payments as we have basically halved the fees,” says Peter Fredell, Group President and CEO at Seamless.
As in Sweden, Collector and Seamless in Finland and Norway will be jointly offering Collector’s invoice account. All purchases are registered on a summary invoice and the customer receives 60 days’ free credit and the option of paying the invoice in instalments.
“It is natural for us to work in partnership with Seamless and SEQR in other markets and follow the international expansion as our joint solution has been received so well by customers in Sweden. We have also been able to fulfil a need among retailers, giving them a simple solution that will make shopping easier and will increase the amount of business they do,” says Lena Apler, CEO at Collector.
ABOUT SEQR, by Seamless
SEQR (se•cure) is Sweden’s and Europe’s most used mobile wallet in stores and online. SEQR enables anybody with a smartphone to pay in stores, at restaurants, parking lots and online, transfer money at no charge, store receipts digitally and receive offers and promotions directly through one mobile app. Through the SEQR app, the user simply scans or taps a QR-code/NFC at check-out and approves the purchase by entering a PIN code. Fast, smooth and safe, SEQR’s payment solution enables merchants to lower interchange fees significantly compared to those charged by traditional card companies. SEQR’s unique transaction platform has been developed by Seamless, one of the world’s largest suppliers of payment systems for mobile phones. Founded in 2001 and active in 30 countries, Seamless handles more than 3,1 billion transactions annually through 525 000 active sales outlets. SEQR is available at Sweden’s largest grocery chains, fast food chains and national retailer chains including McDonald’s, Hemköp and Ur&Penn. In 2013 SEQR was launched in Romania together with GarantiBank and in the spring of 2014 SEQR will be launched in Belgium together with bpost bank. Seamless is traded on Nasdaq OMX Stockholm, under the SEAM ticker.
