Solution Trends in the Ex Area - Air Conditioning for Cabinets and Small Containers

Press Release   •   Apr 21, 2009 09:34 GMT

The small air conditioning unit type FKS-CLML is characterized by its small dimensions. Despite its compact design, it has an effective cooling capacity of 2 or 4 kW. The device can be easily mounted to a plane side panel and is suitable for exterior installation in a temperature range between -35 °C and +55 °C. It can of course also be retrofitted into already operating facilities such as Ex p cabinets.

The outer casing of the small air conditioning unit for the Ex area is made of glass-fiber reinforced polyester which makes it robust, anti-static as well as resistant to corrosion and mineral oil. The installation compartments of the vaporizer and the condenser are separated spatially and pressure-tightly from each other. The electric control unit is installed in an Ex d casing.

In combination with a heating for Ex areas, this small air conditioning unit allows to precisely temper cabinets and small containers. Process analyzer systems installed in cabinets/containers outside often show fluctuations of the measured values, which are mainly caused by the temperature differences between day and night. The small air conditioning unit for Ex areas reduces these temperature differences to a minimum.

A further application area are control platforms and cabins installed for example on oil rigs in explosion-hazardous areas. In this area, the small air conditioning unit for Ex areas also offers a cost-effective solution.
