Sondrel HQ March 2015.....Information released from the world’s leading foundries in Q1 of 2015 indicate as much as 50% of their sales revenue now comes from technology nodes at 28nm and below. At Sondrel as we start 2015 we find that 75% of our engineers globally are working at 28nm and below and in fact 50% of our engineering strength is working on projects below 20nm. 10 projects at sub 20nm are in progress or already complete and to date milestone adherence has been 100%, often completing ahead of time.
Such a situation creates a virtuous cycle as successful projects are taped out adding to the justified perception of Sondrel as the “Go To” company for FinFET engineering services.
Graham Curren, Sondrel CEO, commented ‘The engineering team continues to collaborate with industry partners and build on its expertise at leading edge technology nodes, producing carefully verified and implemented right first time designs of high frequency with low power and high yield rule optimisation. 2015 has seen us hit the ground running on projects in the US, EMEA and Asia in FinFET technology. We are managing teams, working on designs in excess of 600 mm2, that are some of the largest and most challenging designs in the world today. The physical design and verification challenges that we are overcoming would have been unthinkable just a few years ago.’
As an Innovation Partner to TSMC and one of very few designated DCA (Design Centre Alliance) European partners Sondrel is well placed to support customers with individuals, sub-teams or full project teams in block level, Netlist-GDSII or full ASIC engagements. Current Sondrel engagements range from a single engineer at a customer site all the way up to a 20+ engineering team and multiple ODC locations, and cover everything from RTL authoring, through RF and analogue design to verification and physical design. Sondrel has design centres across Europe and China allowing deployment of project teams balanced by skill, location and cost.
Success through Partnership is the philosophy of Sondrel, one of the world’s leading system-to-silicon IC consultancies. For Sondrel, Partnership means sharing the responsibility to get a project done for the mutual benefit of all parties – customer, design house, foundries and tools & IP providers. Established in 2002, Sondrel has the largest and most experienced consulting team in Europe, with wide ranging expertise across all aspects of the design flow and all industry-standard EDA tool suits. The company’s capabilities cover the entire IC design spectrum from RTL design, though verification, emulation and DFT to physical implementation, and include power analysis and yield management. Sondrel is experienced in highly-complex digital, mixed signal, analogue, low power and wireless designs having completed over 200 designs at a range of process geometries down to 14nm, all of which were delivered right first time. With offices in the UK, USA, France, Italy, Israel, Sweden, Finland and China, Sondrel provides flexible services and methodology consulting to many of the world’s leading semiconductor companies, enabling them to improve chip performance and reduce timescales and costs.
