Press release —
100 percent horse meat free - New app for up to one year old children!
10-Minute Baby à la Carte is a smartphone app that facilitates buying and preparing food for children up to 12 months old. It features healthy and simple recipes, a shopping list, practical advice, facts and inspiration. The app has been developed in cooperation with a certified dietitian and adheres to the recommendations of the Swedish National Food Agency. Furthermore, part of the profit goes to charity initiatives helping children.
Ewa Borin, who is the driving force behind 10-Minute Baby à la Carte, got the idea for the app when she was on maternity leave with her son Vincent who is now two years old. She wanted an effortless app about food for the very youngest - an app that could help parents out. So she took the matter in her own hands:
- I wanted to show how easy it is to prepare the food yourself, in contrast to just buying baby food jars. In addition, you get 100 per cent control over the ingredients and you won't have to worry about less healthy additives. The app also features facts about food and nutritional values and all recipes can be prepared in ten minutes or less.
The certified dietitian Theresia Plymoth works in health care with children's allergies and other diet-related problems experienced by children and adults. Her company Nutrivas has calculated the recipes' nutritional values and fact-checked the text in the app.
- Today, many parents of small children want to give their kids nutritional and well-tasting food. However, many feel they lack the knowledge and they also lack time. This app can help parents make the correct food choices in a smart, simple and inspiring way. The content of the app also adheres to the recommendations of the Swedish National Food Agency, says Theresia Plymoth.
All the recipes are adapted to what is best for children up to 12 months old. You will find suggestions for all meals during the day as well as advice regarding allergies and food that our youngest should avoid, food-preparation hygiene, etiquette, inspiration, joyfulness and many other things.
The idea is also to give a share of the app's profits to projects that promote children's health, so that one can do many good things at the same time.
- We will only support projects where we are entirely sure that the money goes to the right thing and really helps children in a sound manner from all different perspectives.
The app will be updated continuously with new recipes and is available on the App Store and on Google Play. It has already been launched in the United States, Great Britain and Australia. In the long run, Ewa hopes to develop apps aimed directly at older children. This could involve inspirational tips regarding how to create comfort and well-being at the dinner table, or getting more of our senses involved to create curiosity about food preparation or knowledge about the importance of healthy food.
