AkzoNobel divests its water treatment chemicals business in Finland

AkzoNobel Pulp and Performance Chemicals (formerly Eka Chemicals) has agreed in principle to divest its water treatment chemicals business in Finland, including the related production facility in Oulu, to the Feralco Group. The transaction aims to be completed by the end of April 2013.
Demand for AkzoNobel’s microspheres is increasing strongly at the global level and Expancel, an AkzoNobel trademark, is to retain its leading position in that market. In 2011, AkzoNobel invested more than €30 million in its production facility for microspheres in Stockvik, outside Sundsvall, Sweden. The objective is to grow, and today, the extended plant is to be inaugurated
