The Centre national du cinéma et de l'image animée (CNC) and its national heritage partner institutions, notably the Cinémathèque française (CF), choose Adlib for the documentation and management of all their cinematographic collections
In September, the CNC and its partners accepted the Axiell ALM offer, which is based on the Adlib system for the documentation and management of all of their cinematographic heritage collections, including legal deposits. Adlib will provide a shared platform for the management and promotion of the CNC and CF collections, as well as the collections of four other cinematographic partners in France and Monaco. All these collections will be integrated in the system, not only films, but also document archives, posters, costumes, etc. The contract is Axiell ALM's fourth in the film heritage sector.

The first results will become available in 2015.
One of the objectives of the CNC and CF is to create a unified view for the public that brings all film archive collections and related materials together. The new integrated system will make it possible to search across all these collections, as well as across the different institutions. The goal is for each institution to keep its own identity and autonomy, in one shared, centralised system. The Adlib solution will replace various legacy systems and will provide an integrated and efficient back-office tool for all users and partner institutes.
The long-drawn project was initiated three years ago by the CNC. Extensive effort was put into defining requirements for the management of the collections and the handling of documentation, to tailor the solution to specific business needs.
The Adlib solution meets all these needs, based as it is on a complete and ready-to-use software package, which is highly flexible and easy to adapt to the demands of the various institutions. In addition, the Adlib solution is based on international standards, such as EN 15907, a standard for cinematographic works specifying best practice in the structuring of metadata in cinematographic works. The CNC took part in devising the standard and Axiell ALM is the first provider to implement this standard in a software package.
