Win major contract in Denmark: Cultural objects to be organized using Axiell ALM's Adlib
Axiell ALM's Adlib solution has, in competion with 19 other companies, again been chosen to digitally organize enormous numbers of cultural objects and make them easily accessible. This time, it is Danska Kulturstyrelsen, the Danish Agency for Culture, which has recently signed an agreement with Axiell.
Axiell ALM's digital system Adlib will be implemented to organize and catalogue the collections of all Danish museums and other cultural institutions. For Axiell ALM, this is an important partnership. The system to be implemented will be adapted and tailored to meet the needs of each and all participating institutions.
The new database, to be called SARA (a Danish acronym), will contain information regarding the museums’ vast inventory - cultural goods, art work, archives, digital images and maps. SARA will be a Danish national database in which all existing data from legacy systems within the culture sector can be developed, installed, adapted and converted to the new system. This will enable a comprehensive overview of Danish museum collections, and data will be both available and usable in a simpler way than before.
At the Danish Agency for Culture, expectations are high in anticipation of the new system, which was chosen due to “the company's competence and experience, the quality of the solution, and its competitive pricing”and experience. Adlib is well-proven, and the solution is based on the standard system Adlib XPlus. Adlib is an intelligently constructed system, where all components communicate freely with each other. It has already been sold to 1,600 institutions worldwide, with some 15,000 users.

Preparations in Denmark were meticulous for the bidding process. The steering committee appointed a group of IT experts and museum executives to carefully monitor the project, before any decision was taken. A joint communication tour has now been planned, to inform about the new system, about how users will be trained, the support that will be available and in what manner information will be accessible.
– This is incredibly inspiring, and together with the contract with CNC - the French Film Archives - it is our largest Adlib order. The Danish Agency for Culture has indicated that they may well require more databases in the system, and we will be engaged in support services for at least four years, especially in training activities for the various users. They have high hopes and major requirements, and we will be able to provide them with everything they need. We are looking forward to launching the implementation process, says Ben Sullivan, Manager Axiell ALM Europe.
104 institutions are involved in the project. They will be operating in a completely new environment and a different system.
– We will ensure that the results live up to all their hopes and expectations. At the end of this project, the Danish Agency for Culture will have a web-based system that can handle everything, Ben Sullivan says.
Implementation will be executed in three delivery phases, starting February 1st. In 2016, everything will be in working order at all the different sites where the Danish Agency for Culture opted to install the Adlib system.
