BAUER VAPOR 1X Skate, Stick to Debut at World Junior Championships

GOTHENBURG, SWEDEN – December 26, 2014
Bauer Hockey, Inc., the world’s leading manufacturer of ice hockey equipment, will debut its latest and most advanced skate and stick at the 2015 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Junior Championship that begins on December 26 in Toronto and Montreal.

“We’re excited to showcase our latest and most innovative products from the new VAPOR line at the IIHF World Junior tournament,” said Rich Wuerthele, executive vice president, hockey. “The game’s best athletes demand ultimate performance, protection and comfort whenever they step on the ice, but this is especially true during this prestigious global event. We’re proud that so many athletes continue to put their trust in our brand and our products.”

The BAUER VAPOR 1X skate features the new proprietary BAUER SPEED PLATETM to optimize balance and stability by significantly expanding the balance control zone. This fully-customizable footbed insert was developed using a recovery alloy technology that is heat-molded to allow the foot to become a part of the skate. For an unmatched lightweight feel and maximum protection, the VAPOR 1X skate incorporates a new aluminized CURV® composite construction. This innovative material was developed for the BAUER OD1N skate, which was part of a two-year research project to measurably advance the performance of hockey equipment ahead of the 2014 Sochi Olympics.

In addition, the new BAUER VAPOR 1X skate features a new 37.5TM technology liner to help regulate temperature and keep the player’s foot locked in place for complete control. Fabrics with 37.5 technology dry up to five times faster than similar fabrics as a result of the advanced particles embedded in the material. By evaporating moisture out of the skate, the player’s foot stays drier and more comfortable, while the skate releases unnecessary water weight. It also features the TUUK LIGHTSPEED EDGE holder that allows players to switch out steel in seconds, a technology that is currently used by approximately half of all NHL players.

The new BAUER VAPOR 1X stick is built for quick-motion shots and features Monocomp Technology, continuing the company’s long-history of developing true one-piece composite sticks. With a new design and Quick Release Taper (QRT) technology, the VAPOR 1X stick easily allows the transfer of energy when loading and unloading shots. This new geometry allows players using the VAPOR 1X to generate more energy and release their shots 28 percent faster compared to its predecessor, the BAUER VAPOR APX2.

The BAUER VAPOR 1X stick will be available at authorized retailers around Europe on February 14, 2015 and the VAPOR 1X skate will be available in April 2015.
