Henrik Lundqvist Extends Long-Term Partnership with Bauer Hockey

New York Rangers Goaltender to Continue Exclusive Use of BAUER Product Through 2021 NHL Season

Bauer Hockey, the world's leading manufacturer of hockey equipment, today announced that Henrik Lundqvist has signed a long-term extension of his ongoing partnership with the company. One of the world's premier goaltenders, Lundqvist will continue to exclusively wear BAUER products throughout his current seven-year contract with the New York Rangers, which runs through the 2020-21 season.

"I am extremely excited to continue my partnership with Bauer Hockey and I look forward to the continued innovation and commitment from the entire BAUER team to ensure I have the best possible products for my game," Lundqvist said. "As a goaltender, I am always looking for that competitive edge, and BAUER is equally as focused on elevating performance and protection for players of all ages. I have the utmost trust in BAUER. The team consistently delivers product that allows me to play at my absolute best and I look forward to working alongside BAUER for many years to come."

Lundqvist, the 2012 Vezina Trophy winner, played an integral role in the design and development of Bauer Hockey's revolutionary OD1N goal product, which was officially unveiled by Lundqvist during the 2014 Winter Olympics. The BAUER OD1N goal pad was the first goal pad to utilize an outer foam layer, creating the lightest elite-level pad ever made. In addition to its lightweight properties, the pad features fully customized rebound control tailored to the specific needs of the athlete. The innovative technology not only helped Lundqvist and Team Sweden advance to the Olympic gold medal game in Sochi, it also became incorporated into Bauer Hockey's existing line of products, including the BAUER SUPREME 1S OD1N pads and the soon-to-be-released VAPOR 1X OD1N pads.

In addition to providing important product insight and feedback, Lundqvist has also worked closely with Bauer Hockey on several grassroots and branding initiates that have not only strengthened the BAUER brand, but have allowed Lundqvist and Bauer Hockey to give back to the overall hockey community, with a focus on Sweden and the New York area.

"Henrik has been an incredible partner for many years and has been instrumental in helping us continue innovating our goal product line, not only for the game's best players, but for goaltenders at all levels," said Mary-Kay Messier, Vice President of Marketing, Bauer Hockey. "He is an incredible ambassador to the sport around the world and shares many of the same values that are at the core of Bauer Hockey. We look forward to working alongside Henrik for many years to come."

Lundqvist is entering his 12th season with the Rangers and in addition to winning the Vezina Trophy in 2012, Lundqvist is the only goaltender in history to win 30 games in each of his first 11 seasons. In 691 games in the NHL, Lundqvist has posted a 2.28 goals against average and a .920 save percentage. Prior to playing in the NHL, Lundqvist played for Frolunda of the Swedish Elite League and earned the Honken Trophy for top goaltender in the league for three straight years from 2003-2005.

In addition to exclusively wearing BAUER equipment, Lundqvist will be prominently featured in several Bauer Hockey advertising and marketing campaigns. Additional top NHL players on Bauer Hockey's roster of elite athletes include Alexander Ovechkin, Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, Jack Eichel and Auston Matthews.
