EIT ICT Labs Eindhoven goes EIT Digital together with a new Director
11 June 2015, Eindhoven - Leading European open innovation organisation EIT ICT Labs is happy to announce its new name and its new brand - EIT Digital. Willem Jonker, CEO of EIT Digital says: "We are European entrepreneurs driving digital innovation and education. EIT Digital is more in line with our identity, strategy and mission. The name is also easier to pronounce and enables us to build a stronger brand.”
EIT Digital accelerating ICT innovations to market
EIT Digital invests in strategic areas to accelerate the market uptake of research-based digital technologies and to bring entrepreneurial talent and leadership to Europe. Its innovation and education activities are organised in and around co-location centres, where students, researchers, engineers, business developers and entrepreneurs come together to drive the digitalisation of society. Since 2010, EIT Digital is consistently mobilising talents, ideas, technologies, investments and business across Europe and beyond to stimulate disruptive digital innovation. The headquarters are in Brussels with co-location centres in Berlin, Eindhoven, London, Helsinki, Paris, Stockholm, Trento, as well as in Budapest and Madrid. Since 2014 there is also a hub in Silicon Valley.
The Dutch co-location centre of EIT Digital has its domicile at the High Tech Campus Eindhoven, which aims to turn innovation into business. Needless to say, that this is good breeding ground to execute the EIT Digital mission.
EIT Digital in the Netherlands has new Node Director
With the implementation of the new name and brand into EIT Digital, a new Node Director for the Netherlands started. EIT Digital Eindhoven is therefore very pleased to announce that Patrick Essers is the new Node Director of EIT Digital in the Netherlands, since last week. Patrick Essers fills the vacancy created by Patrick Stratings’ departure to join Mecon, a technology supplier of mechatronic systems and components.
The selection for the new Node Director in the Netherlands was made after an international search and selection process. Before Patrick Essers started within EIT Digital Eindhoven he worked as Quartermaster Director of the Dutch Institute World Class Maintenance (DI-WCM) where he was end-responsible for the transition from a grant-driven to a self-supporting organisation. Currently, EIT Digital also investigates the opportunities for sustainability; Patrick Essers will spearhead this drive in the Netherlands.
