EIT ICT Labs opens Summer School at High Tech Campus

Eindhoven, 23 March 2015 – The third EIT ICT Labs Summer School with focus on Health and Wellbeing, and Innovation and Entrepreneurship is taking place at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven from July 12 to July 24, 2015. This year the EIT ICT Labs Summer School opens its doors for Master students from various disciplines.

EIT ICT Labs organises the international Summer School for students who are interested to dive into the world of ICT innovation and the impact of technology on health and wellbeing. EIT ICT Labs believes that ICT innovation in preventive healthcare can contribute to support people to live uncompromised, comfortable, safe and active lives through to an advanced age. During the Summer School, students are working on questions like: What are the trends in technology and to capitalize technology? and how to bring ICT innovation to the market?

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure

With an ageing population and growing consumer empowerment, the call for a user-centric approach towards Health and Wellbeing is imperative. This requires an innovative and entrepreneurial approach to the field of Health and Wellbeing. Nowadays, it seems like we rediscover “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” to solve issues in healthcare. As it is an important goal to reduce the high costs of health care by seeking solutions for early stage health problems. This results in avoiding major health problems in a later stage. Therefore, EIT ICT Labs focuses on the preventive side of healthcare with an effective contribution of ICT innovation.

International innovation and entrepreneurship

This Summer School at the High Tech Campus focuses on innovation and entrepreneurship in Health and Wellbeing with a central role for real life business cases. These business cases come from EIT ICT Labs’ partners and EIT ICT Labs’ coached start-ups and have to be solved in project team work. In addition lectures take place on: development in health and wellbeing, innovation routes and revenue models, social psychology, corporate entrepreneurship, branding and marketing. Within these two weeks, participants will develop themselves as entrepreneurs in the field of health and wellbeing. Since EIT ICT Labs’ Summer School Health and Wellbeing has an international character, participants make valuable contacts and work together in an intercultural setting.
