SkinVision, the app to detect skin cancer available in Android now

Eindhoven, 4 August 2015 - SkinVision, a Dutch startup coached by EIT Digital Business Accelerator, developed an app that makes it possible to check your skin health and for early detection of skin cancer. Next to the already existing iphone version, the SkinVision app has been made available for Android smartphones now. One can download the SkinVision app in the Google Play for Samsung smartphones S4, S5 en S6. As soon as possible SkinVision will be available for all Android devices.

With SkinVision one can make pictures of moderspots and check it through the app. By checking pictures of the moder spots regularly, one can monitor dangerous changes within a spot, quick and easy. Changes in shape, seize and colour may indicate an early recognition of melanoma, the most serious type of skin cancer. The online solution helps you to visit a doctor in time and prepared. Next to the, already existing iPhone version, the Skinvision technology is available on Android now. With expanding the use of the app with Android, the expectation is that SkinVision can penetrate a market in Europe that is twice as big then it is right now. On top of this, the Android version of the app offers extra functions.

Diversity of cameras
A diversity of cameras, camera position, filter and colour temperature of the flash may distort the picture and subsequently distort the analysis of the picture. To prevent this, Skinvision tuned the analysis tool of the app to several factors of the Samsung camera’s (S4-S6). This will be done for all the Android devices. Dick Uyttewaal, CEO of SkinVision: ‘Last month, we had 5.000 requests for the new Android App that we were finalising. We have invited this group to test our Android App. Thanks to this, we were able to make the Android App even better. With expanding the use to Android, we meet the fast growth of the number of enthusiastic users of our app in Europe and Australië.”

About SkinVision
SkinVision is a mobile application for the detection and early recognition of melanoma, the most serious type of skin cancer. Possibly the detection ability will be enlarged for other varieties of skin cancer, in future. By taking a picture of a suspect lesion on your skin and submitting it in the online assessment algorithm as developed by SkinVision, an advice will be given. One can store the picture in a personal gallery and that enables you to compare pictures over time as well as the ability to share photos with your dermatologist or doctor. The app can be downloaded for free for iPhone and Android (Samsung) in the Appstore or Google Play. Look for more information on: www.skinvision.com.
