Elephant Parade commissions special elephant design to celebrate new King of the Netherlands

Following the news that Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands will be abdicating the throne, Elephant Parade has commissioned a bespoke design in celebration of Crown-Prince Willem-Alexander becoming King, which will take place on 30 April 2013.

Elephant Parade has tasked renowned Dutch design agency Studio 100% to create the limited edition elephant to celebrate Crown-Prince Willem-Alexander’s coming to the thrown. Studio 100% is well regarded in the magazine industry and has previously designed stationery for the Rijksmuseum and stamps for Post NL.

The elephant design has been created in one size only – a series of just 200 of the 15cm celebratory elephants are available to buy from the web shop now. The design draws on inspiration from the Kingdom of the Netherlands, whose origin began in the aftermath of Napoleon’s defeat in 1813; the year that the Netherlands regained its freedom and the Sovereign Principality of the Netherlands was proclaimed with Willem I Prince of Orange and Nassau as sovereign.

The royal elephant will never to be re-created again. If you are interested in pre-ordering one (or more) of this very unique art-piece please click here:
