Elephant Parade launches at intu Uxbridge

On Monday, 2 June, six students from local primary and secondary schools will gather at intu Uxbridge to unveil their decorative elephant statues, joining a 30-strong herd, as part of the Elephant Parade national tour, presented by intu..

Three local schools took part in a design competition offering budding young artists, from a range of different year groups, the chance to create their very own baby elephant statue. Two winners were selected from each school and students hand-painted their winning designs onto the baby elephants which will be displayed in the centre throughout June as part of Elephant Parade.

Donna Watson, marketing manager at intu Uxbridge, says: “We’re delighted to launch Elephant Parade at intu Uxbridge – the elephants are a fantastic addition to the centre, they are bright, beautiful and vibrant pieces of art and the six winning elephants will add some local flavour to the parade.

“I want to say a big thank you to all pupils who took part for creating such fabulous elephants! Do come down to intu Uxbridge in June to see the striking designs for yourself!”

Elephant Parade is a global art exhibition of decorative elephant statues. Designed by artists, celebrities and local children, Elephant Parade creates vibrant artistic designs on elephant statues to raise awareness of, and funds for, The Asian Elephant Foundation, a charity which supports elephant conservation projects.

Elephant Parade was brought to the UK by intu, owner of UK malls, as part of a national parade and the elephant herd will visit intu Uxbridge between 2nd June and 30th June 2014.
