Empower signs contract for three substations for E.ON

Empower has signed an agreement for the renovation of three substations near Malmö. The contracts are a strategic victory for Empower in taking a big step into the Swedish substation market.

- E.ON's decision to choose us as a key contractor for all the three stations, and not just one, is a clear evidence that Empower has the expertise and the muscles needed for this type of mission. We look forward to good cooperation with E.ON and to an efficient and smooth running project, says Andreas Enbom, Head of Power Network Services in Sweden, Empower.

The contract is a turnkey contract for the transformation of stations in Borrby, St.Olof and Sövestad, all within an hour radius from Malmö. The contract includes everything from design, demolition, construction and documentation to commissioning and final inspection. The design work has already began and the final inspection of the whole project is estimated to be in October and November. The project is expected to include at the most 20 people.

- It is a large and exciting project that we have ahead of us. Quality and safety are always our top priorities and we have therefore chosen to have our own Building Work Environment Coordinator, which allows us to take full responsibility for these plans in our customer projects. With BAS P and BAS U internally, we have skills all the way from planning, risk assessment and project design to the execution of our projects in the Power Network Services, says Anders Enbom.

Empower has earlier this year been engaged in the power line business of E.On when they replaced the top wire on a 90 km long power line between Nässjö and Alvesta in Småland, Sweden. The new agreement is proof that the work Empower previously performed has lived up to E.ON's high standards of quality and safety.
