Vattenfall chooses Empower for new station mission

Empower has signed a turnkey contract for the renovation of a transformer station.

The contract, which is Empower's first on the station side for Vattenfall in Sweden, is a project that will be carried out as an "ABT06". This means that Empower will take responsibility for, and deliver, everything from design, demolition, construction and documentation to commissioning and final inspection.

The station is jointly owned between Vattenfall and Svenska Kraftnät with high demands on documentation, safety and processes.

- We have great confidence in Empower and their working methods. They put safety first, which is one of the reasons why we selected them for this mission, says Håkan Jacobsson, Strategic Buyer at Vattenfall.

The station has a voltage level of 220/70/20 kV and also provides electricity for a large mill nearby. Due to this it is essential that schedules are followed and no unnecessary interruptions occur.

- Our project manager Håkan Eriksson is very experienced. He will also be working with experienced consultants who are used to this kind of station work, says Andreas Enbom, Business Area Manager, Power Network Services, Empower.

Work on the design has already started and the building permit documents are approved. Actual construction and the work of the station will begin in the spring, and the final inspection is planned for November 2016.
