Tuuliwatti selects Empower as the main contractor of the largest wind farm in Finland

TuuliWatti Oy and Empower Oy have signed an agreement on the construction contract of a wind farm to be built in Kalajoki. Empower will function as the main contractor of the farm comprising 22 wind turbines.

Moreover, Empower will be responsible for the engineering, planning and project management of the project. Kalajoki wind farm is the ninth cooperation project between TuuliWatti and Empower.

The contract agreement will further strengthen Empower's position as the leading wind power service provider in Finland.

"We are pleased to continue and develop our good cooperation with TuuliWatti. Their operating methods encourage us to keep on continuously developing our operations," says Juha Lamberg, Vice President at Empower Oy

"The wind farm in Kalajoki is a continuation of our ongoing 500 MW investment programme, 60 per cent of which is at the implementation stage including already completed projects as well as those under construction. After the completion of the ongoing projects, we will produce approximately 16 per cent of the 6 TWh objective set by Finland for 2020 during next year," says Jari Suominen, Managing Director at TuuliWatti Oy

Successful cooperation between Empower and TuuliWatti has continued for years and the newly signed agreement will further consolidate the cooperation:

"Empower will be the main contractor for the construction of all 300 MW wind power capacity already completed and under construction.  The projects have progressed within the timetable and budget agreed. This gives us a good foundation for continuing our cooperation," Jari Suominen says.
