Fältcom at IT-Trans - new App for vehicle climate control in connected buses

Fältcom has developed an App for remote management and control of temperature in parked buses – Vehicle Climate Manager. The App lowers the cost for heating and makes heating of buses more environmentally friendly. The new App is first introduced at the IT-Trans exhibition in Karlsruhe and will be available in Q2 2018.

Fältcom, Nordic leader of IoT solutions and connected vehicles for Public Transport, introduces a new App for connected buses at the IT-Trans exhibition in Karlsruhe – the Vehicle Climate Manager (VCM).

The VCM is a service for remote control and management of temperature in parked buses waiting to start their route. The system monitors the temperature in the vehicle and if the temperature drops below a set degree the system turns on the heating to keep the temperature at a preferred level. Using the VCM heating of the bus will only be performed when needed and not continuously when the bus is ramped. This keeps heating costs down and reduces emissions, in addition the climate in the vehicle will be comfortable for both drivers and passengers when the bus starts its route.

The App Vehicle Climate Manager is the latest addition to Fältcom’s ecosystem for Public Transport based on the Open IoT Platform MIIPS. The App will be available in Q2 2018.
