ABISKO LITE - 16 lightweight and well-ventilated newcomers for summer trekking

Just in time for the summer trekking season, Fjällräven is extending its Abisko series with 16 new functional outdoor garments for those who like to trek light in the summer mountains or in warm climates. Just like other Abisko products, these newcomers are made from lightweight, fast-drying materials that ventilate well.

The Abisko series is designed for lightweight trekking, for example a day trip around the mountain station or cabin-to-cabin trekking. The first garments were launched in the spring of 2014 and with their low weight and good ventilation they have quickly become favourites. Now Fjällräven is extending the series and is launching jackets, trousers, a comfortable trekking skirt, women’s tops and more.

Abisko Lite Jacket is a light, packable and well-ventilated jacket for day trips during the warmer months of the year. Made from stretch fabric and G-1000 Lite for the optimal combination of freedom of movement, wind protection and durability. Adjustable hood and two zippered chest pockets that are big enough for a map, with insides made of stretch fabric that gives them extra volume. Available in women’s and men’s models.

The jacket works perfectly together with Abisko Lite Trousers or Abisko Lite Shorts. They are also made from stretch fabric, and the trousers are reinforced with G-1000 Lite on the lower legs and over the knees so they can handle rough wear in challenging terrain. Both the trousers and shorts have a leg pocket with an inside pocket for a mobile telephone and are available in women's and men's models.

Abisko Trekking Skirt is a smart combination garment with skirt and shorts in one, made from pliant four-way stretch fabric. The skirt is well fitting, with a slightly flared cut and the shorts have a zippered pocket and reversed seams that minimise the risk of chafing. Perfect for women who like to take long strides, and they are of course great for cycling and other summer activities.

For women there are also the tops Abisko Trekking Top W and Abisko Tank Top W. The former has an inbuilt bra that gives support on active days and the latter is a little looser, like a light and pliant tank top. Both have a fitted cut and are made from comfortable fabric that transports moisture away from the body.

Other news includes the Abisko Fleece Hoodie, a hooded sweater in comfortable fleece fabric, and Abisko Half Zip that is a slightly thinner mid layer with a half-length zipper and soft brushed inside. For warm days there is the Abisko Trail T-shirt, a t-shirt for men in wool/tencel.

Abiskoproducts are available in stores from spring 2015.
