Fjällräven Polar - The adventure has started.

Fjällräven Polar has now started and regular people from across the world have now set out on this unique expedition. During the next days the participants will drive dog sleds through the wilderness, from Signalalen on the Atlantic coast across the subarctic tundra to the forests near Jukkasjärvi – a distance totaling about 300 kilometers.

Fjällräven Polar is a unique winter adventure that takes place far above the arctic circle. For four days regular people from all over the world will drive dog sleds through the harsh wilderness, from Signalalen on the Atlantic coast across the subarctic tundra to the forests near Jukkasjärvi – a distance totaling about 300 kilometers.  Here they are guided by the legendary musher Kenth Fjellborg and the outdoor specialist Johan Skullman.

Something that started as a competition…
The first time Fjällräven was held was in 1997. It started as a sled dog race, inspired by the legendary Iditarod Race in Alaska, and was held in 10 years in a row until 2006. After 2006 the event was placed on ice.

…became a school for outdoor life.
When Fjällräven Polar started up again in 2012 it took on a new format. The 20 participants still travel the same course with dog sleds, but instead of competing with each other the focus was placed on sharing knowledge of outdoor life and inspiring more people to take part in outdoor activities.
The idea behind Fjällräven Polar is to demonstrate that anyone can take part in an amazing adventure if they make the right preparations and equip themselves well”, says Andreas Cederlund, Event Manager at Fjällräven.

Fjällräven Polar 2014.
Anyone can apply for Fjällräven Polar and the participants are selected by public voting. In 2014 more than 900 people from all over the world applied and together they received hundreds of thousands of votes. The applicant who received most votes in 2014 was Katrina Sokk from Estonia who got a total of 28,257 votes for her application film.
