Press release -

Huge interest for 2015 edition of Fjällräven classic!

From Friday to Sunday (7-9/8) 2300 hikers will start in the 11th edition of what since a number of years is one of the world’s largest Trekking events, Fjällräven Classic. The Fjällräven Classic combines trekking in the mountains with a festival. The trek stretches over 110 km along the beautiful Kings Trail from Nikkaluokta to Abisko where the finish is located.

The trail between Nikkaluokta and Abisko is one of the most popular hiking routes in the Swedish mountains. The trail passes by the foot of Mt. Kebnekaise, the tallest mountain in Sweden, through lush valleys and past crystal clear lakes and eventually reaches Abisko mountain station. Fjällräven Classic makes this adventurous hike just a bit more accessible by offering organized logistics, checkpoints with medical staff, food and supply along the trail.

Almost 2,300 people, of whom more than 1700 are international guests from around 30 countries, take their place at the start line this year. Some of them have never even been on a mountain hike before, while others are habitual hikers and trekkers. Whatever their background, after completing the 110 km they will testify to the magnificent mountain experiences, camaraderie and fantastic atmosphere. That’s why we describe the Fjällräven Classic as a big celebration of hiking.

We think that nature is fantastic and we hope we can inspire more people to head out into it. The reason is simple - it is where we want to spend our free time. That is why we are doing our best to integrate environmental care into all aspects of our organization.” says Martin Axelhed CEO of Fjällräven.
Fjällräven Classic has for several years worked purposefully to educate, inform and inspire both participants and officials to take responsibility for the environment. Using the criteria for Eco-labeled event has taken Fjällräven Classic a further step to systematically reduce the event's environmental impact. Reuse, recycling and reducing resource use are prioritized areas, as well as for the participants to leave as few traces as possible after the trail.
