KAIPAK - Simple, robust trekking backpacks with tried-and-tested features

For summer 2015, a new series of backpacks is being launched in classic Fjällräven spirit. The KAIPAK series has been developed for trekking and has a substantial carrying system and functional, durable details. The backpacks are made from durable G-1000 HeavyDuty Eco and are available in three sizes – 28, 38 and 58 litres.

Kaipak backpacks build on Fjällräven’s long tradition of developing functional outdoor equipment. Their design is simple with tried-and-tested, durable details. Fjällräven’s functional fabric G-1000 HeavyDuty Eco (65% recycled polyester, 35% organic cotton) adds to their timeless feel and gives a hardwearing backpack that can be waxed with Greenland Wax for even better resistance to weather and wear.

Kaipak has a large, top-loaded main compartment with a drawstring closure. The top lid can be raised on the larger models and has two pockets. In addition, there is a zippered pocket at the front for rain gear and the like, plus two side pockets. Compression straps at the sides stabilise the contents of the pack when it is not fully loaded. A rain cover in visible safety colour UN Blue is included.

Kaipak 28 has attachment points for trekking poles and on Kaipak 38 and Kaipak 58 it is also possible to attach ice axes. The bigger models are hydration system compatible, making them just as suitable for winter use as for trekking in warm conditions. Kaipak 58 has an extra zippered opening at the base for extra access to equipment.

The carrying system is stable and substantial for the backpack's size. Kaipak 38 and Kaipak 58 have fixed back length, ergonomically shaped shoulder straps and hip belts with two pockets, perfect for snacks and sunscreen for example. These sizes are available in women’s and men’s models that are adapted to fit their respective body shapes. The smaller Kaipak 28 has comfortable, shaped shoulder straps and a simple hip belt that can be detached when not in use.

Kaipak is available in stores from spring 2015.
