Gävle University Amongst those that increase the most

Applications are declining nationally by just over one percent compared to last year. However, Gävle University belongs to the institutions of higher education where applications are on the increase.

Figures from the Swedish Council for Higher Education show that 5415 people have applied for programmes at Gävle University as their first choice, and that is an increase of eight percent compared with last year.

Amongst those that increase the most
Gävle University lands in second place amongst universities and institutions of higher education with a mixture of programmes, where there is a comparison regarding first choice applications to programmes.

“Once again we see an acknowledgement of the capacity here at Gävle University. We now have one of Sweden’s most attractive institutions of higher education and our programmes are very much in demand,” says Vice-Chancellor Maj-Britt Johansson.

”Also fantastic that our Business Economics degree course qualifies for the twentieth place amongst the programmes with the most first choice applications in the whole country.”

Most popular programmes
The programmes that are selected most often at Gävle University are those for business economics, pre-school teacher, estate agent, criminologist, social worker and nursing.

Earlier this week the government presented the fact that Gävle University is to be given new university placements where the focus is on pre-school teachers, primary and secondary school teachers and nursing.

“This is very gratifying for our region where the need is great for well educated people within these fields. Good that one has now realised that funds for higher education need to be increased and not decreased,” says the Vice-Chancellor Maj-Britt Johansson.
