Postgraduate studies at the University of Gävle have been awarded with "high quality" on assessment scale

The postgraduate studies for Energy Systems at the University of Gävle have been awarded "high quality" on the three-level assessment scale by the Swedish Higher Education Authority, now evaluating postgraduate courses.

The Swedish Higher Education Authority (UKÄ) determined that the postgraduate course that leads to Licentiate and Doctoral degrees within the disciplinary domain of Energy Systems at the University of Gävle is of high quality.

During 2015 and 2016 The Swedish Higher Education Authority has carried out a pilot study to ensure the quality of selected higher education programmes at the postgraduate level. Included in the group of programmes evaluated was the postgraduate course in Energy Systems at the University of Gävle.

“A gratifying announcement for the third-cycle subject area Energy Systems and verification that we have a postgraduate course of very high quality,” says Bahram Moshfegh, deputy vice-chancellor for research.

“I would like to thank all our colleagues whose systematic work to ensure quality within the postgraduate programme has now resulted in such an excellent result.”

The University of Gävle conducts its own postgraduate studies within the research areas Energy Systems, Indoor Environments, Environmental Psychology, Geospatial Information Sciences, Occupational Health Sciences and Social Work and 38 postgraduate students have been enrolled.

The University of Gävle has approximately 14 500 students, more than 50 study programmes and second-cycle programmes, about 1 000 courses in humanities, social and natural sciences and technology.

Research Profiles
Built Environment and Health-promoting Working Life are the general research profiles of the higher education institution. Important parts included are Spatial Planning with a specialisation in Sustainable Built Environment and Musculoskeletal Disorders with the purpose to prevent work-related injuries. In 2010, the higher education institution received permission to carry out third-cycle programmes in the profile area of Built Environment.
The higher education institution has applied for permission to carry out third-cycle programmes in technology, humanities and social sciences.
