Reesbe—the post-graduate school that makes a difference

To make sure that the doctoral students’ competence and research results are used to their full potential, Reesbe will summarise what has been done and look forward into the future in a series of three workshops. The first one will be an autumn meeting in Gävle 24-25 October.

Four years ago, the University of Gävle, Dalarna University and Mälardalen University, along with seventeen companies in the energy sector, started the industrial post-graduate school Reesbe (Resource-efficient Energy Systems in the Built Environment).

The industrial post-graduate school is evidence of a common commitment to improve energy production, energy distribution and energy use and, in this manner, substantially reduce our use of resources.

Industrial post-graduate school

The core of Resbee’s activities is that universities collaborate with a large group of companies representing various lines of business. By capturing the full benefits of competence and experience from various sources, results will be created in the form of new knowledge.

Resbee research is conducted primarily by doctoral students employed by the business sector, while their supervisors are employed by the universities.

Research results are demonstrated in good academic outcomes and in that the competitiveness of the business sector improves as products, services and processes are improved and developed.

Capturing results

“Many of the doctoral students will complete their dissertations in 2018, and it is important that their competence and their research results are captured by the universities and by the companies,” says Ewa Wäckelgård, programme director.

For this reason, Reesbe will summarise what has been done and look forward into the future in a series of three workshops. The starting point will be an autumn meeting in Gävle 24-25 October. The meeting is co-hosted by the University of Gävle, Gävle Energi and Gavlefastigheter.

Education and Research at a Scenic Campus.
The University of Gävle has approximately 17 000 students, more than 50 study programmes and second-cycle programmes, about 1 000 courses in humanities, social and natural sciences and technology.

Research Profiles
Built Environment and Health-promoting Working Life are the general research profiles of the higher education institution. Important parts included are Spatial Planning with a specialisation in Sustainable Built Environment and Musculoskeletal Disorders with the purpose to prevent work-related injuries. In 2010, the higher education institution received permission to carry out third-cycle programmes in the profile area of Built Environment.
The higher education institution has applied for permission to carry out third-cycle programmes in technology, humanities and social sciences.
