Press release -

The University of Gävle at Book Fair this year

The University of Gävle at Book Fair this year. You are welcome to meet the University of Gävle at this year’s Book Fair, on their own stand framed by the quotation from Stig Dagerman "Freedom of speech – for they who dare to use it. You have dared therefore it is yours!”

Vision of a sustainable environment

”We want to exhibit the University of Gävle with focus on our vision of a sustainable environment for mankind. It is particularly appropriate when the theme for the fair is freedom of expression,” says Maivor Hallén, Head of Library and Division of Communications and Strategic Partnerships.

A number of short lectures on research will be held on the stand to enable the University of Gävle’s research to reach a wider public.

The lectures will focus on sustainability from a broader perspective: ecological, economical, social and cultural sustainability. They start on the hour and are followed by "question time".

Many more can study

”Our courses and programmes attract many applicants, but we want to spread information about them to others, by participating in the Book Fair amongst other things. As many of our programmes and courses are web-based, there are great opportunities for many to study from a distance”.

Stig Dagerman

On the stand there is even Högskolans Dagermanseminarium, which was founded in 2012 to strengthen the humanistic activities of the university, by holding open seminars with the emphasis on democracy issues and freedom of expression.
