The University of Gävle is awarded the highest grade by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency

The University of Gävle is awarded the highest grade by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency for a sustainable development.

4 universities reaches max
In the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency’s yearly survey of 190 authorities’ environmental work, 23 authorities were awarded max points. Amongst all the other university colleges and universities, only Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet and Högskolan i Borås reaches the same high grade as the University of Gävle.

Environmentally certified
The University of Gävle is one of the 27 environmentally certified authorities that were included in the survey. The environmental certification implies that an agency is working according to an international environmental standard to continuously develop and improve their environmental work.

- We have a long tradition of active environmental work for a sustainable development in society. Of course, these grades are very positive for us, says Annika Johansson, responsible for the environmental management system at the University of Gävle.

This year as well, the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency has chosen to examine the
quality of the authority’s accounts regarding their environmental policies, environmental aims and how well they are reached.
