The University’s research in automation attracts regional entrepreneurs

Companies in the region are lining up when the University invites them to a day about automation. “Great fun, and it shows how great the need for competence in automation is,” says Daniel Rönnow, professor in electronics at the University of Gävle.

Getting together is the point

There will be lectures when representatives from the industry will raise their concerns and when the University describes its activities and competence.

“The point is for research and industry to get together and discuss common problems and find common solutions,” Daniel Rönnow says.

New research projects

This is the first time that the University brings together researchers within the field of automation both from the industry and from the University.

“We hope that this will lead to new research projects together with the industry and create contacts with companies for our researchers and students,” Daniel Rönnow says.

For companies, this is an opportunity to upgrade their skills in the field and to participate in formulating research projects that are relevant to them.

“I would like to inform the media that some students will demonstrate a very interesting student project with robots,” Daniel Rönnow says.

The University is prominent within automation

The University has first and second cycle, and even third cycle education within automation. We have a fine educational laboratory and also, since a few years back, a successful co-op programme.

A new online master programme will start next autumn. This program will be offered as distance learning to provide automation engineers within the industry the opportunity for further education.

Automation engineers

Computers run our society; they run ventilation systems, machines and advanced industrial processes. The automation engineer has a competence that thousands of employers within industrial, energy and real estate companies demand.

There is a shortage of automation engineers today and the field is also growing in breadth.
